Gracie Fields Statue

You might have to stand on tiptoe to get a glimpse of the Gracie Fields statue as she’s currently out of bounds as the Town Hall undergoes a makeover.

The statue commemorates the singer Gracie Fields. Gracie was a local girl who started life working in a cotton mill and went on to become a singer and film star.

In the 1930s she was highest paid female star in the world!

Other well-know Rochdale residents include singer Lisa Stansfield, radio presenter John Peel and actor Anna Friel.
