Number One Riverside

This multi-award winning flagship building is home to Rochdale Central Library and Rochdale Borough Council. There’s also a coffee shop and conference/meeting rooms.

Number One Riverside is designed to be as energy efficient as possible. It has a biomass boiler (meaning that it uses natural fuels rather than fossil fuels such as coal or gas to run), photo voltaic panels (that transform light into energy) to generate electricity, solar panels to help heat the water and a green roof covered in plants to collect rainwater and help to keep the building warm.

While you’re here, come in to see the spectacular international exhibition Gaia, a huge work of art depicting the Earth.
